Founded in 2011, Hastings Ore WI is a large, informal, non-traditional WI group appealing to women from all backgrounds and ages. The majority of our members live in Hastings and St Leonard’s. We organise a wide variety of events, outings and activities for our members, fund-raise for local charities, and members can alos apply for annual educational bursaries. We take pride in our friendly welcoming style.
What We do
Recent highlights from our monthly programme have included a charity shop fashion show, maypole dancing, and food foraging. We include sessions where members can join together in a craft activity – eg making easter bonnets, active sessions, for example maypole dancing, and have an annual garden meeting and plant sale.
Our craft group meets monthly, and we also have a monthly coffee morning.
We have a walking group, a book group and we arrange monthly lunches in local restaruants for our members.
We arrange regular special outings for our members – our most recent was to the Houses of Parliament.
Each year, we have a Bazaar and a jumble sale to raise money for our charities, and take part in special fund-raising events, for example the annual Jack-in-the-Green festival in Hastings, and the Race for Life for Cancer Research.
